My Story

Hello my name is Victoria and I am a fully qualified and NZ registered Physiotherapist based in Waipu, Northland. My treatment techniques will ease pain and muscle tension and give joint mobility thereby allowing the horse to move freely. I will travel to you to treat your horse - Victoria Wigram, MSc (Vet Physio) Royal Veterinary College (London) and BSc (Physio) Kings College (London).

I have experience treating people as well as horses

Having gained plenty of experience first treating people who are able to feedback more easily than our horses, I know that I have a great understanding of how the changes to the animals' bodies that I can feel, relate to the horse itself.

My assessment involves listening to your concerns about your horse, watching and analysing their movement and posture, palpating for changes to their soft tissues, assessing their joints' range of motion and continually watching out for their pain and discomfort.

Treatment is hands on - joint mobilisations, fascial release, massage, trigger points, stretches and exercises. I am happy to explain what I find and my aims for treatment so we can work together to help your horse.

Physiotherapy will help your horse!

Is your horse not performing as well as before?

Is your horse not performing as well as before? Difficulty changing rein or disuniting behind? Feeling wooden or unbalanced, not taking corners well or stopping? Is your horse flinching to your touch or refusing to respond to your commands?

Horses are good at masking pain so if you are noticing a change in their behaviour then it can often be pain related and physiotherapy can help.
