Celebrating the 1782 repeal of the Act of Proscription
The Waipu Museum Art n Tartan Wearable Arts Awards are held annually. They celebrate the 1782 repeal of the Act of Proscription which dictated for 40 years that no men or boys from the Highlands were allowed to wear tartan.

Each year the costumes entries become more and more unique and extravagant. A high calibre of workmanship goes into each and every entry. It is an amazing and interesting event celebrating another part of Waipu's Scottish heritage.

Art n Tartan 2018 will be held on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 July 2018
Where tradition meets fantasy! At the Celtic Barn, Caledonian Park. Friday 20 July 'Opening Night Show' starts from 8.00pm.
This years event will be split into three shows. A magical 'Opening Night' performance at 8.00pm, followed the next day by a fantastic afternoon 'Matinee Performance' at 2.00pm and finally topped off with an inspiring 'Awards Evening' of light and sound at 8.00pm.
Showcasing creative endeavour from around New Zealand. So come on, let your fancy take flight and step into a world where tradition meets fantasy!
