International Tartan Day 2017
Friday 30th June - The Waipu pipe band parade from 11am from the Celtic Barn. Join Waipu Primary School and don your tartan and join in the parade. Prize for best dressed in tartan. Great historical skit. Industry Waipu are organising the best dressed boy and girl prize.

Waipu Business and Promotions Group Meeting
Tuesday 4th July - Join the Business and Promotions Group for their monthly meeting. All local business, groups, trusts, clubs are invited for our tartan meeting. Prizes for best dressed in tartan and the bar and restaurant will be open.

Waipu 150 Speech Finals
Tuesday 4th July - Join us in the Celtic Barn for a evening of speeches by primary school children. All children must have a Waipu connection. Contact Paul Ramsay on 09 432 0135 for more information.
Waipu Hotel Pool Competition
Free entry to all contestants dressed in their finest tartan. At 5.30pm enjoy a complimentary juicy beef spit and a dram of our finest single malt whiskey. Northpine Waipu Cup
Saturday 8th July at 12.00pm - Join us at Ruakaka Racecourse for the celebration of the wearing of tartan at the gallops. Free entry and the event starts around midday. The Great Waipu Milk Off
Saturday 8th July - This year its a team event! Get a team together or sign up anyway and we'll sort the teams. 2017 will see more competitors, more prizes, more fun and more milk! All are welcome for a fun night. Scottish BBQ (with Haggis from Scotland) and refreshments are provided. Get your clan together and battle for the title of 'The fastest milkers in the shire'. Waipu Scottish Country Dancing
The Waipu Scottish Country Dancing Club annual celebration starts with a tartan dance night at the Waipu Coronation Hall. A chance to have a go at some fun dances with lively music suitable for all ages, no partner required.

The Vet Centre People and Pets Parade
Saturday 15th July - Waipu's HIghland Pipe Band will again be leading the Pets and People parade starting at 11am outside Pizza Barn. Wear your tartan to win a prize. The parade will end with a Sausage Sizzle at The Vet Centre with a gold coin donation to the SPCA.

Waipu in Tartan 2017 - The Great Waipu Cycle and Walkway Treasure Hunt
Tuesday 18th July - Assemble 10am at the Waipu end of Cycleway Bridge, Cove Road, Waipu.
This year Waipu Community Art and the Cycle/Walkway offer more action than ever. The emphasis is on International Architecture. All the info needed for correct answers will be jumbled on your entry form. Bikes, pushchairs, feet welcome (sturdy footwear recommended).
Kids under 10yrs must be with someone over 14yrs. Official entries $4 or 3 for $10. All proceeds to Cycle/Walkway and Waipu Community Art.

Tartan 9 Hole Tournament

Shortbread Making Competition
Sunday 30th July - The Waipu in Tartan Shortbread Competition is held at the Waipu Fire Station. Bring your entries between 11am to 12 noon and results will be announced at 3pm. There are four categories men's, women's, children and most alcohol! All entrants must be present at 3pm to explain their creations.

Mid Winter Swim and Sand Creation Competition
Sunday 30th July 1pm at the Waipu Surf Life Saving Club.
Come on down ready for a midday swim, don your tartan and brace the cold for a refreshing dip. Sausage sizzle and hot soup available, fundraiser for Waipu Cove Junior Surf. Create a Scottish Castle or whimsical creature, this can be made prior to the day and brought down for judging at 1pm, or be spontaneous and make it on the day with treasure from the beach (judging at 2pm after the swim).
Prizes for best child, adult and family or group.
