Black Sheep Farm, Country Homestead B&B is delighted to announce their next House Concert, The “Villani Piano Quartet”.

Country Homestead at Black Sheep Farm is delighted to announce their next House Concert, as part of the Villani Piano Quartet’s 2019 Northland tour.

East Meets West

An afternoon of fine chamber music presented by the “Villani Piano Quartet”

Musicians playing some of the world's finest music together as a Quartet require great skill and professionalism. In European classical music, Piano Quartet denotes a chamber music composition for piano and three other string instruments, here we have violin, viola and cello. With tension, balance, grace and ultimate enthralling beauty, the Villani Quartet are sure to delight you in the intimate Grand Lounge of the Country Homestead.

The Villani Piano Quartet is the result of previous collaborations between the four players in various combinations. With home and international experience, the Villani Piano Quartet has come together with a drive to present the unique richness of the piano quartet experience and to promote chamber music to audiences of all ages. Flavio Villani (Italian, Piano), Sarah Spence (Scottish, Cello), Marko Pop Ristov (Macedonia, Violin) and Helen Bevin (NZ, Viola). This quartet with their wide international experience show impressive clarity and expression in their playing with a superb balance between the 4 musicians.

This promises to be an exciting concert with some of the best works of the repertoire; Mahler's only chamber music work with its haunting melodies, an indulgence in Spanish harmonies with the piano quartet by Turina and NZ premier of the thrilling piano quartet by Vasks.

“This tour we are premiering the epic work that is Vasks' Piano Quartet. Soaring, heart wrenching melodies are interspersed with Latvian Folk inspired rhythms. Programmed alongside the deliciously dark Mahler Piano Quartet and the uplifting, Spanish-French cocktail Turina, there is something new and something fun for everyone.” - Marko Pop Ristov, Violinist

This promises to be a unique opportunity to experience a high calibre Quartet in an intimate location. Don’t miss out !!!
